Adam West

The Original Batman
*Today he’s probably best known for his recurring (albeit minor) role on Family Guy, and for being the original Batman. But it wasn’t always that way. West has had a long and illustrious life and career, which is highlighted by his role as the first and greatest Batman. Today, he is still active in Hollywood getting on the big screen.
*He was born in 1928 in the city of Walla Walla, Washington.
* He attended Walla Walla High School.
*After high school he went to Whitman College, where he was always busy. He joined Beta, was a member of the debate team, sang in the school choir, wrote for the school newspaper, and joined the Economics club. In his free time, he swam, skied, ran track, and played water polo.
*West then went and served in the army for two years.
*After careful deliberation, West concluded that the army was not for him, so he dropped the army, moved to Hawaii, and got an acting bit on the children’s program The Kini Popo Show.
*West liked acting so much, he decided to take up a career in Hollywood.
*He landed several smaller roles, but really broke out in the 60’s when he was cast as Batman in the topically-named Batman television series. The show was famous for being cheesy and over-the-top and for it’s “batclimb cameos,” in which Batman and Robin would randomly encounter major celebrities while scaling the side of a tall building.
*According to West, he was invited to play James Bond after Sean Connery retired. He turned it down because he was Batman.
*West has a long career resume of movies and TV shows. However, now he is known for his spot as Mayor Adam West in Family Guy, but he continues to do voice-over work and holds many supporting acting roles.
